Explanation of Documents

Please click on any of the headings below to open up the relevant page.

As in previous years we have endeavoured to include information within the review pack which hopefully you will find thought provoking and useful.  We have placed much of this content on our website.  This allows you to view not only the enclosures that are of particular interest and relevance to you, but also helps protect the environment by reducing the paper generated in review documents.  We have taken a view that the majority of clients will support this move, but if you would prefer to receive a paper version of the document(s) please contact the office and we will print and send a copy to you.

Review of Markets

This is prepared every quarter and at any other times of the year should we feel it is appropriate.

Credit Crisis in Motion

As I am sure you will appreciate it has often been difficult to compose a valid up to date review of markets, but irrespective of this, we have endeavoured to do so.  To supplement the updated review of markets we have added here two graphs, the first detailing UK Financial History back to 1950, and the second on the 'Credit Crunch' period since the problems at Bear Stearns surfaced in August 2007.

Skandia Indicator

This is a monthly summary produced by Skandia Group, showing the views and expectations of movements in the primary investment sectors of the major investment groups.  We see this as a valuable addition to our own 'Review of Markets'.

The Basic State Pension

We often receive questions from clients regarding their entitlement to State Pension benefits and with a number of changes having occurred in the pensions arena over recent years, we have provided some specific detail in this area which we hope you will find of use.

BP Pension    &    BP Shares

As the BP Pension and Shares tend to make up a significant part of many of our clients' portfolios we have included a section on each of these.  The summary in relation to the BP Pension is based upon our most current understanding of the BP Pension Scheme.  The BP Share comment is updated every quarter in line with BP's quarterly results.  These comments should not be construed as advice, but an update to help decide with your ongoing BP strategy.

Life & Financial Action Plan

This section has been designed to give a holistic view of your financial planning considerations and can act as a checklist to make sure you are covered in each area as appropriate.  This list is not exhaustive, but should hopefully highlight any points that need further discussion.

Will Planning and Inheritance Tax (IHT)

Following various questions from clients we have included this section to give a basic overview of Will Planning & Inheritance Tax (IHT) considerations.

Depositor Protection

Since the 'Credit Crunch' began in late 2007 we have all become more aware and conscious of the Depositor Protection Rules in the UK.  This section explains the UK Depositor Rules as well as highlighting where rules can be found relating to other jurisdictions.

Taxation for the Individual

This is a post budget summary of the most common allowances and tax rates that affect individuals.

Risk Ratings

To act as a reminder we have enclosed a schedule of our risk rating categories for both you as an individual and also for the investments themselves, should you wish to refer to these.

Contact Details

Following our recent de-merger and subsequent rebrand, we have updated this contact chart to help you with contacting the right person within the office to provide you with assistance.
